God Uses Our Brokenness
Lately, I’ve been waking up in the middle of the night, sometimes not even going to sleep, thinking about my purpose in God’s Kingdom. I know I have a purpose, but I continue to question what it may be. I know that the Bible verse about nothing is impossible with God is true, but here I am tonight, feeling totally broken and incapable of being used by God in any way. I don’t understand how God could use someone like me in the first place to fulfill such good works. I find myself being so caught up with thinking this way that I have totally forgotten to actually focus on God and lay my problems at His feet. Today, I want to remind you and encourage you that God has a plan for us all and that we need to learn to give him our worries and anxieties, though it is hard to do. We are so wired at keeping it all deep inside and causing so much inner stress. God uses broken things and he can use you and me. I love the verse Psalm 34:18 - The Lord is near to the brokenhearted and saves the crushed in spirit.
In scripture, you can find examples upon examples of God using the least of these folks to accomplish His perfect will. Every Superman in Scripture, except Christ, had his Kryptonite moments. If we were to take a roll call of just some of the Bible's greatest strugglers and failures who in time became God's greatest winners, it may look somewhat like this:
Noah became drunk (Gen. 9:21).
Abraham lied about his wife (Gen. 20:2).
Sarah laughed at God's word and then lied (Gen. 18:15).
Jacob was a deceiver (Gen. 27:1-29).
Moses was a murderer and disobeyed God (Exod. 2:11-12; Num. 20:11).
Samson was lustful (Judges 16:1).
David was an adulterer and a murderer (2 Sam. 11:4, 15-17).
Solomon embraced idolatry (1 Kings 11:1, 4-5).
Elijah was afraid and struggled with depression (1 Kings 19:3-4).
The disciples argued about who was the greatest (Mark 9:33-37).
James and John wanted the most honorable kingdom seats (Mark 10:35-45).
Remember that God can use us all, NO MATTER HOW WE FEEL ABOUT OURSELVES. We may deem ourselves unworthy, but God sees us as His children who he deeply cares for and He loves. If you are reading this, I love and care for you and wish you the best day ever dwelling on your worthiness.
